RUNNING
A jog embodies the fears, anxieties, hopes, & inevitabilities of life.
This short film was conceptualized by my brother (Joan Gonzalez) and I. I released an album entitled “How Strange” in March 2021, and Joan wanted to expand on the album’s themes via a visual companion. RUNNING was shot in South Florida, New York City, and Los Angeles. The film centers around the unstoppable forward momentum of life. As the passage of time brings anxiety, fatigue, frustration, hope, thrill, and more - all we can do is continue moving onwards.
The film was shot with a Blackmagic 4K. The execution of the filming was extremely DIY, for we had no budget. In lieu of a dolly or steadicam, we shot all the moving scenes from the trunk of a car or from on top of a skateboard.
I composed the original score during the filming and editing of the project. Simultaneously editing and composing the music allowed me to score the scenes more accurately.
